Motorists and households will pay more for fuel after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced a sharp increase in pump prices in its latest monthly review.
In the new prices effective from midnight May 15 to June 14, 2026, Super Petrol will increase by Sh16.65 per litre while diesel rises by Sh46.29 per litre.
Kerosene prices remain unchanged.
In Nairobi, a litre of Super Petrol will now retail at Sh214.25, while diesel will cost Sh242.92. Kerosene will remain at Sh152.78 per litre.
EPRA said the latest review was influenced by rising international petroleum prices, exchange rate fluctuations, and the application of taxes under the Value Added Tax framework.
The increase is expected to trigger higher transport and production costs, piling pressure on consumers already struggling with the rising cost of living.
Diesel, which is widely used in public transport, manufacturing, and agriculture, recorded the steepest rise, with analysts warning that the increase could push up food and commodity prices across the country.
In Mombasa, Super Petrol will retail at Sh211.09, while Diesel will cost Sh239.64 per litre. In Nakuru, motorists will pay Sh213.15 for petrol and Sh242.33 for diesel.
The latest increase comes barely a month after EPRA raised fuel prices in the April-May review, with Diesel then hitting a historic high.
