The Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) has denied the allegations that it conducted a raid on social media personality Shiquo Hii Style’s shoe business earlier this week, stating that the claims are false. The response followed social media posts by Shiquo alleging that authorities confiscated her merchandise during a raid targeting counterfeit goods at her store.

“There is no raid that was conducted in that shop; that is a pure lie,” said ACA Director of Enforcement Osman Yusuf.

He clarified that the authority was aware of the ongoing Interpol-linked operation but denied that Shiquo’s shop in the CBD was a part of it.

“The intelligence we have is that she was relocating from one shop to another and used empty shelves to portray a raid,” said Yusuf.

The ACA also released a position statement outlining its stance in the ongoing discussions around the raid. They affirmed that they do not interfere with legitimate businesses and that their efforts focus solely on unlawful trade in counterfeit goods.

Mr Yusuf added that actions like these are strictly guided by legal procedures and only carried out when there are reasonable grounds for it, and the parties involved have been given the chance to provide documentation or challenge the action before the court.
